 Energy gels are ideal for use as a powerful energy boost during high intensity aerobic exercise such as running and cycling. They are great taken 15-20 minutes before a workout too (for example before a swim) and will give a noticeable boost of energy. |

 Energy bars are a slower release form of energy than gels. They can also be taken at your own pace rather than all in one go. Finally, they are useful to provide a little bit of solid food to the stomach which can help to reduce cramping (due to an empty stomach) and hunger pangs. |

 Sports drinks are for use during exercise to either provide energy only (Enervitene powder), provide electrolyte replacement only (Nuun), or to provide both energy and electolytes. High 5 4:1 provides 4 measures of carb and 1 of protein in the mix which studies have proved to be THE ratio that gives the best performance in endurance sports. |
