Recognized as the most flexible, unrestricted wetsuit on the market, the Alpha is designed to compliment a good swimmer’s technique and get you moving even faster through the water. Featuring industry first 0.88 Free arms for unrivalled flexibility and forearm water feedback, as well as carefully placed Exo-cell Buoyancy dots for better buoyancy position and equilibrium.

Features:

  • Flexibility - With 0.88 Free on the arms and shoulders you can experience unknown freedom of movement. Each stroke equals an adventure.
  • Speed - With the combination of a steady position in the water, complete freedom of movement and a Nano SCS surface the Alpha is the fastest wetsuit for any regular swimmer. HydroLite panels make fast change of clothes possible.
  • Buoyancy - With carefully arranged ExoCell points on the back the Alpha supports you when you need it the most.
  • Comfort - New, extremely soft neck with SCS coating on the inside and out prevents skin irritations. Klett has been turned around so that no chafing is possible.

The Technologies:

  • Yamaoto - The Yamamoto Corporation is the world’s main supplier of high performance neoprene. Its seal represents quality, technology and innovation.
  • 0.88 Free - is a revolutionary material developed by Orca. The five layer construction combined with a patented heat reflective Titanium coating is the secret behind the extraordinarily high insulation effect in such a lightweight material. This results in extreme stretch and flexibility, high buoyancy and insulation as well as low drag in the water. 0.88 Free really is the ultimate weapon for speed in the water.
  • Exo-Cell - is a unique sandwich-designed neoprene that provides over 25% more buoyancy than Aerodome. Panels of Exo-Cell are used in strategic panels on the Predator, Alpha and 3.8 to optimize swimming position.
  • 40 CELL - Yamamoto’s 40cell neoprene is the penultimate for flexibility, suppleness, fit and comfort. Second only to 44cell by the narrowest of margins and located in key high stretch areas on the Predator, Alpha and 3.8 suits, these panels contribute to providing a wetsuit swimming experience of the highest level.
  • NANO SCS - Super Composite Skin (SCS) has become the benchmark for coating the smoothskin neoprene used in triathlon wetsuits, to reduce friction and increase speed through the water. Orca uses Yamamoto Corporation’s latest Nano SCS for an even lower drag co-efficient, ensuring the fastest swim possible. The underwater co-efficient of dynamic friction of the Nano SCS is 0.026 in comparison to 4.0 of regular neoprene. Less friction = more speed!
  • HydroLite panels - make transition that extra bit faster using the super fast SCS (Nano ICE in the Predator) which combined with a special lining which absorbs less water to improve buoyancy while also being extremely sleek -making the suit fast to remove in transition saving you precious seconds.
  • INFINITY SKIN - It’s what’s on the inside that counts and Orca’s unique InfinitySkin lining plays an integral part in the unbelievable flexibility of our top end wetsuits. Constructed from a high stretch nylon, InfinitySkin is strategically placed where ultimate stretch is required and allows the wetsuit to move dynamically through your swim stroke.

Orca

Whilst working as a swim coach, and from his first hand experience in competing in triathlon, Scott Unsworth realised that the wetsuits used at the time were completely inadequate for swimming. In 1992 Scott started up a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd, based out of his parent's house in Auckland, New Zealand. He began to develop his "Speedsuits", which featured greater flexibility and buoyancy than other existing wetsuits.

The business started with Scott selling his Speedsuits from the back of his car at swim meets and triathlon events. The Speedsuits quickly gained a following amongst athletes and the business started to grow. Scott was taking his first steps towards introducing what would become Orca, to the world. A young New Zealand triathlete named Hamish Carter became one of the first athletes to sign up with the company that is now Orca. Over the next 13 years Hamish Carter went on to become one of the best known triathletes in the world - culminating in a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

About Us This web site is owned and operated by The Edge Sports Shop who are completely dedicated to your total satisfaction. If you have any suggestions or comments or if you need to contact us, please email us using the link on the store page or use the details below.

Internet Pricing

As with many retailers, sometimes it is necessary for us to compete with online competition by reducing our online prices.  Thinking logically about it, an internet customer takes up virtually no time in the shop - you are not trying on different sizes (creating mess which has to be tidied by staff), often taking advice .etc. - a service we love providing but it still costs money!  We will endeavour to match internet prices in our shop but this cannot be guaranteed.  Similarly for the bike to work scheme, if a company is using a 3rd party voucher company (see our Bike2Work page) then we cannot match the sale price because we are not actually receiving the sale amount - we are receiving a lot less due to the commission taken.
