The 30th Annual Tommy Ryan Memorial Carrigaline 5 Mile Road Race will take place on Sunday the 18th of February at 11am.

This has become one of the longest running and most popular road races in Cork. Last year’s race was an entertaining encounter from the start as Mark Hoey took the win in a very impressive time of 26:17 just holding off the challenge of his Leevale team mate Barry Donovan in 2nd and with Eagle ACs Alan O’Brien finishing strongly to finish 3rd.

The ladies race turned into a 3 way battle.  Eventually the win went to Una Plant Murphy in a time of 32:12 with the Leevale duo of Carmel Parnell and Lisa Hegarty coming home in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

It was great to see the clubs of Cork coming out and supporting the race with home club Eagle AC having the biggest representation with 28, St.Finbarr’s AC 25, Tracton AC 20, Carrigaline Road Runners 18, Ballymore Cobh AC 14, Leevale AC 12, Kinsale Tri 8, Mallow AC 7, Crosshaven Tri 7, Togher AC 6, Midleton AC 5, Watergrasshill AC 5.

A total of 419 people completed the 5 mile in 2017. It would be great to see this record broken once again in 2018!
